Charley's Take:
I love Yoki!! Today (July 12th) Hello Kitty was visiting. There was a line around the world so we did not wait to see her, but still cool she was there.
I like to go there to get Pocky: (seen here)
All the cool kids are doin it.. snicker snicker. I also like So Young's Fashions. It's a store that has super cool and pretty inexpensive stuff. I recently got a rhinestone covered baseball hat there.
Totally cool.

Today I did buy a pretty cool hand sewn bag from Terri's Designs.
It has zebra and has hot pink fleur de lis on it. $18 bucks was quite a steal. Overall I give the city market 4 stars out of 5! (The only points lost are for the majorly loud crowds!)
Jude's Take:
I like the food! I love to help my mom in the kitchen so buying all kinds of new spices and fresh food is super cool. Today while we were shopping a guy said, "Thanks for bringing your kids out and showing them where food really comes from!" Vendors will often give us samples of stuff like tomatoes and peaches and stuff! I tasted a gherkin. It was not great... We did buy some, so my mom can show us how to make our own pickles. I found a cool hat too. Like the one my dad says my grandpa Jude used to wear. I think it's called a Fedora. As you can see, Finn got a Superman baseball hat too.
Today we also ate lunch at a place called "The Bite". It was AWESOME SAUCE! My mom ordered for us. We got a sandwich called "The Bay of Pigs"- probably because it was piled high with pork; pulled pork and prosciutto. It had these habanero pickles on it. I'm not always a spicy guy but there were great! Yes that is cabbage slaw we are eating too! Finn gobbled it up!
I give the city market 5 out of 5 stars for my favorite places to go in Kansas City! There is nothing that I do not absolutely LOVE about a day at the market!
Finn's Take:
I like going to the city market but my mom never lets me go on the bounce houses. She says they cost too much for only a few minutes. So this makes me not love it! They do have a barrel train ride she sometimes lets me go on which I like a lot. I get to pick out lots of stuff to buy for dinner. I also love to go to that Chinatown Market just like Charley. It smells a little bad because they sell moth balls and also fresh fish which is just not a good combination! But they have all kinds of cool weird stuff. Here is a picture I took myself, of some cool big green melons.
I also took this picture of the shrimp on ice. They look all creepy with their whiskers poking out.My mom bought a whole bunch of peas still in their pods. She and I spent the afternoon shucking them. It was kind of fun. We made them for dinner and I ate two whole plates full. I liked seeing where they came from and how they grow inside of the pod.
Overall I give the city market 5 out of 5 stars. I know I'm picky and mad about the bounce house thing but the city market is still a lot of fun. So I wont take points off just because my MOM is not fun!
So there you have it folks. The city kids still like to know where their food comes from. They love experiencing new cultures in the foods and at the retailers. From the mom's perspective this is a pretty great way to show your kids about the food they eat, get them involved in making good choices, and help them on the path to healthy eating. Supporting local growers is a great benefit as well. I also love this city and no where on Earth is a better cross section of our culture than the city market on a Saturday morning! Hope you have fun taking your kids there! (...and yes screw the bounce houses.)
